Our Outcomes: An Overview
Through its 20-plus humanitarian, educational, and scientific programs, the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (AAFP Foundation) is making a positive difference for families and communities around the world. Thanks to funding from our physician members and corporate partners, the AAFP Foundation is doing great things in the name of Family Medicine.
AAFP Foundation 2015 financials will be available in summer 2016. Some highlights from 2014 include:
- The Foundation is proud to have earned the trust and support of its donors. Individual donors gave $910,400 to help improve the health of all people.
- We aim to make the best use of our dollars. The Foundation allocated 77 cents of every dollar to direct program expenses.
- The education component of our mission received 65% of the program funding. This means that more than half of our program dollars help secure the future of Family Medicine by attracting students and residents to the specialty, and supporting health and medical education.
The AAFP Foundation annual reports highlight how the Foundation's financial resources were distributed each year. Each report includes detailed statements of financial position and activities, and breakdowns of program expenses, revenue and support, and expense allocation.
I give to the AAFP Foundation because I believe in the future of Family Medicine. The Foundation places emphasis on promoting medical student interest in our specialty and resident-physician excellence in patient care. What's not to like about that combination of reasons to give to the AAFP Foundation? - Rick Kellerman, MD
