Resident Research Grants Fact Sheet
Resident Research Grant Awards
Residents are eligible to develop a research proposal to submit to the AAFP Foundation Research Committee (RC) for funding consideration.
Grants (up to $2,000 each) are available for short-term research projects that can be conducted and reported within a one-year time period.
NOW March 15, 2012 - Resident Research Grant Proposal Submission Deadline Extended
Because the RC believes it is important for resident researchers to seek guidance from a local mentor with experience in Family Medicine research for the development of the protocol and assistance during the project, the mentor will be required to sign the proposal along with the applicant.
May 31, 2012 - Notification of Grant Awards
All applicants will receive a letter announcing the RC's funding decision by May 31, 2012.
June 30, 2013 - Final Report Submission Deadline
Project reports will be submitted no later than June 30, 2013 and each resident will receive reimbursement for travel expenses to attend the 2013 Research National Conference (NC) to give a 10-minute presentation on his/her research project.
Note: Registration for the NC will be waived for Resident Research Grant Presenters.
Best Paper Award
The Best Paper Award will recognize the best overall research project. All 2012 grant recipients' projects will be considered and an award will be presented to the individual whose proposal and final report show exemplary execution. The award recipient will be announced during the National Conference at the 2013 Resident Research Paper Presentations session.
