Summer camp is a critical and valuable resource for children with diabetes. For the last 10 years, Lilly Diabetes has been a major supporter of the camps through the Lilly Diabetes Camp Care Package, which contributes diabetes medicines, provides educational kits for campers and caregivers, and sponsors special guest appearances and volunteers.
A newsletter (2-page PDF; About PDFs) describes a partnership with a variety of stakeholders that help summer camps address some of the needs of children with diabetes and their families nationwide. As many physicians refer their patients and in some cases volunteer at summer camps, they may be interested in learning more about these supporting efforts.

AAFP Foundation selected as Charity of Choice
For the third year in a row, Novo Nordisk has selected the AAFP Foundation as their charity of choice. During this year's Assembly in Denver, Novo made a donation to the Physicians With Heart (PWH) Children’s Project for every visitor who had an interaction at their booth. The goal, to raise over $10,000 for this year's PWH airlift to the Republic of Tajikistan, has been surpassed with Novo’s donation of $12,000 to the AAFP Foundation. More information about PWH.

Dannon supports AAFP Foundation
The Dannon Company will be supporting the AAFP Foundation with a Signature Wall in their exhibit booth during the 2010 Scientific Assembly. For each signature and message, Dannon will donate proceeds to the AAFP Foundation, which benefits the Foundation's humanitarian, education and scientific initiatives in the United States and around the world.

Welch Allyn donates essential medical equipment for PWH airlift
For the past nine years, Welch Allyn has been a consistent supporter of the Physicians With Heart (PWH) airlift. During the initial Tajikistan assessment conducted in January, the PWH team discovered from the local health officials that one of the major challenges for the family medicine physicians in-country was the shortage of essential diagnostic equipment. Welch Allyn rose to the challenge and has provided the PWH team with otoscopes, stethoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, sphygmomanometers and blood pressure cuffs for adults and children. The PWH Delegation of Family Medicine physicians will use this equipment for training purposes and will also donate this equipment to hospitals and clinics in rural settings throughout Tajikistan. Dow Live Earth Run for Water - April 18, 2010
Dow, a Foundation corporate partner, has just announced The Dow Live Earth Run for Water, the largest global water initiative in history focused on the actions individuals can take to effectively address the water crisis.
On April 18, 2010, Live Earth and Dow will be creating events and activities over the course of 24 hours in nearly 100 cities around the world. The Dow Live Earth Run for Water will consist of 6 km run/walks symbolic of the average distance many women and children walk every day to get water, live concerts and water education activities.
