2009 Annual Recognition Dinner

Each year during Scientific Assembly the AAFP Foundation hosts a special dinner for its most dedicated donors. For the 2009 Annual Recognition Dinner, AAFP Foundation donors were invited to the JFK Library and Museum. Guests enjoyed a private tour of the museum, which features a replica of the Kennedy oval office, Kennedy family videos, a peek into Jackie Kennedy's closet and a recent exhibit that displays gifts of state given to the Kennedy's. Dinner was served with a view of the ocean and the iconic Boston skyline in the background.
Several awards are presented during the Annual Recognition Dinner: Outstanding Service Award, Philanthropist of the Year Award and Outstanding Program Award. In addition, this year a Special Recognition Award was also presented.

The Outstanding Service Award is the AAFP’s highest honor for recognition of vendors, suppliers and companies or their employees who support the medical profession. The 2009 award was presented to the National Dairy Council.

The 2009 Philanthropist of the Year Award was given to Catherine Bishop, DO, FAAFP of Ohio and the Outstanding Program Award was presented to the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians Foundation for its Health Disparities Initiative.

Lastly, a Special Recognition Award was given in honor of the late Dr. Dale Hylton of Colorado. Dr. Hylton, who was a member of the Foundation's Legacy League, passed away last year and left his entire estate to charity. Included in his estate was a bequest to the AAFP Foundation, totaling $250,000. This is the largest gift the AAFP Foundation has ever received.
