Donor Dinner

Each year during Scientific Assembly the AAFP Foundation hosts a special dinner for its most dedicated donors. At this event the Foundation presents a number of awards, including the Outstanding Programming Award and the Philanthropist of the Year.
"The Donor Dinner was a great evening ... the Foundation is such a good cause."
David Hoelting, MD"The Donor Dinner was a great evening at a great restaurant! I truly enjoyed an excellent non-partisan speech by a politician! The Foundation is such a good cause that I was inspired to leave a donation with the Foundation, as were many others."

In 2008, guests enjoyed a special dinner celebration, honoring the 50th Anniversary of the AAFP Foundation. An elegant dinner was held at The Prado in Balboa Park in San Diego, CA. A surprise announcement was also made: the Ruth Ostergaard Children's Fund was established. The fund honors Ruth's work with Physicians With Heart and specifically the Children's Project. To top it all off, a special 50th Anniversary cake was served.
The keynote speaker, Fmr. Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee delivered a poignant address. Governor Huckabee took office in 1996 and is the author of the book, "Quit Digging Your Grave with a Knife and Fork: A 12-Step Program to End Bad Habits and Begin a Healthy Lifestyle." Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2003, he shared how his family physician had inspired him to lose over 100 pounds and complete four marathons.
