Residents & Students Initiatives Fund for National Conference Scholarships
"I learned about the true scope of Family Medicine. It seems to me now that it is a career without bounds, uniquely suited to allow a physician to pursue almost any path." The AAFP Foundation provides more than 125 scholarships for students and residents to attend National Conference. This enables residents and students the opportunity to explore Family Medicine through clinical sessions, procedural workshops, and interaction with family physicians from across the country. Many scholarship recipients develop their leadership skills through participation in the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students.
“The National Conference gave me an opportunity to learn important skills that I wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to learn (such as triage following a disaster situation and dental extractions). Also, through speaking with representatives from many different residencies, I learned more about the different facets of residency programs. This knowledge will help me in choosing the best residency for me. Finally, and most importantly, I learned about the true scope of Family Medicine. It seems to me now that it is a career without bounds, uniquely suited to allow a physician to pursue almost any path.”
