Resident and Student Initiatives Fund for National Conference Scholarships
This year the foundation is able to provide 200 scholarships, but this is only possible with your help. Please consider making a donation to fund a full scholarship in the amount of $600.
Members who fund a full $600 scholarship can be matched with a specific recipient, giving them both the opportunity to meet and make a personal connection. Investing in your scholarship recipient will help secure the future of family medicine with the best and brightest physicians.
Make sure to read about Dr. Rick Madden's personal experience with this program as a mentor.
While you are at it check out Dr. Brent Smith's story from scholarship recipient to practicing physician and Board Member for the AAFP Foundation and AAFP.
In 2013, The AAFP Foundation provided funding for 200 scholarship recipients. In fact, some family physicians funded full scholarships and are pictured here with their respective match.
National Conference Scholarships provide residents and medical students the opportunity to explore Family Medicine through clinical sessions, procedural workshops and interaction with family physicians from across the country.
Many scholarship recipients solidify their commitment to the specialty and develop their leadership skills through participation in the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students. In fact, nearly 75% of the third- and fourth-year medical students attending on scholarships commit to Family Medicine and become AAFP members. When you provide support through donations to National Conference Scholarships, you can feel confident that you are positively affecting the future of Family Medicine .
