"In my view, it is everyone's responsibility to improve the lives of children, especially the poor and vulnerable."
Ruth Ostergaard The Ruth Ostergaard Children’s Fund is a new, named endowment established by an anonymous donor couple through a 50th Anniversary Fund gift. The donors were inspired by Ruth Ostergaard’s work and dedication to children through the Physicians With Heart Children’s Project. The Children’s Project is a companion program of Physicians With Heart in which clothes, mattresses, bedding, shoes, and toiletries are supplied for orphanages and special-needs schools within the selected country.
Spearheading these efforts with love and commitment, Ruth has improved living conditions for hundreds of children in the former Soviet Union – children at orphanages who have very little if anything to call their own.

“I was completely surpised and humbled by such an honor! Dr. Karl Meninger said ‘How we treat children... they will treat society.’ In my view, it is everyone's responsibility to improve the lives of children, especially the poor and vulnerable. These past years it has been my privilege to witness the generosity of the donors and the joy of the recipients. Many donors' lives have been enhanced because they assisted children in need. I've seen the children receive the gifts with gratitude-wearing a new coat even on a warm day because they've never had one before.”
