“Family medicine has been great to me. It’s been good to my family. And I feel like it’s now time for me to give back.”
William H. Coleman, MD, PhD, FAAFP
As a past president of both the AAFP (1993-1994) and the AAFP Foundation (2000-2001), Dr. Coleman truly believes in Family Medicine. In addition to annual pledges, he and his wife Johnnie established a planned gift through a Charitable Remainder Trust. And they give generously of their time to the Foundation and the Alabama AFP Foundation. In recognition of their commitment, Bill and Johnnie Coleman were named the co-winners of the 2003 Philanthropist of the Year Award. Dr. Coleman has continued to support Family Medicine and the AAFP Foundation by donating to the Foundation’s 50th Anniversary Fund and by also serving on the 50th Anniversary Fund Committee.William H.
