Research - Using the Collections

The Center for the History of Family Medicine (CHFM) is dedicated to facilitating an understanding of the history and development of general practice, family practice and Family Medicine in the United States. It is open to all interested scholars and researchers from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CST Monday through Friday. Arrangements may also be made to use CHFM's resources at other times by special appointment. You can access the collections in several ways:
  • By searching our online Catalog (278-page PDF file; About PDFs);     
  • By visiting our facility in Leawood, Kansas, just outside Kansas City, Missouri;
  • By calling, writing or emailing the History Center.
The policies listed below may help with questions about accessing the History Center's collections. For further assistance with your questions, research topics, or to find out about subjects reflected in our collections, contact the History Center.
Access and Use Policy -- Learn the Access and Use Policy to ensure proper care and use of the History Center's resources.
Restriction to Access Policy -- In certain situations the CHFM may restrict access to specific resources.
