"I had an incredible experience, so thank you for the opportunity to attend."

The AAFP Foundation administers the James G. Jones, MD, Student Scholarship Program. This program was created as a way for Dr. Jones to demonstrate his continuing commitment to the education of medical students. Thanks to his generosity, three medical students were able to attend the 2010 Annual Family Medicine Congressional Conference (AFMCC) held in Washington, DC.

The AFMCC is sponsored jointly by the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Council of Academic Family Medicine. The meeting is designed to inform participants of federal issues that affect Family Medicine and to provide training in effective lobbying — certainly a timely issue for family physicians.

The 2010 scholarship recipients are:

  • Allana Krolikowski, a third-year student at the University of Buffalo
  • Megan McMahan, a third-year student at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine
  • Brett Gregory Toresdahl, a fourth-year student at the University of Washington

Updated application information for 2011 will be posted at the beginning of the year.
