Research Skills Seminar

The seminar helps Family Medicine residents and students:

  • Gain an appreciation of the need for research in Family Medicine.
  • Develop skills in basic research design and research conducted in the realm of Family Medicine.
  • Understand how to translate a general research question into a research hypothesis.
  • Learn basic research study designs.
  • Recognize the importance of appropriate methods, statistical consultation, IRB approval and informed consent.

Residency and medical school faculty are welcome. It would be especially valuable to attend with their residents or students.

Registration Required
There is no registration fee for the seminar. However, space is limited and pre-registration is required. The registration deadline is July 9. To reserve your spot, complete and submit the registration form (1-page PDF file; About PDFs).

Family Medicine residents will be eligible to apply for grants to conduct short-term research projects. The 2010 Resident Research Grant application form will be available July 28.

The findings of the 2009 Resident Research Grant will be presented at NC on Thursday, July 29, at 11:00 a.m.
