Family Medicine Cares International

Helping those in need, at home and around the world.

Family Medicine Cares International delivers patient care and provides medical resources for people in need around the world, with initial focus on Haiti. The program will also work to improve the lives and health of the children of Haiti by providing essential personal, medical, and educational items to children in orphanages and schools in this impoverished country still recovering from the devastating earthquake of 2010.

You can make a world of difference for the people of Haiti through financial contributions or volunteering.

Two types of volunteer opportunities are available for those who wish to support the work of Family Medicine Cares International:

ONGOING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Dr. David Smith
Three to four volunteer physicians are needed each week throughout the year to provide ongoing patient care in community clinics in Haiti. These volunteer physicians generally serve one-week deployments, working alongside Haitian nurses and medical personnel to deliver the quality care the local population so desperately needs.

ANNUAL DELEGATION TRIP

Dr. Laura Knoble

The annual Delegation trip is a one-week volunteer opportunity that includes both medical and non-medical individuals. The delegation members focus on many efforts during their time in Haiti, and are therefore divided into specific teams to accomplish multiple projects. Some will focus on treating patients, others on delivering medical education and training, and others on facility improvements and connecting with the local children and youth.

Resident Scholarship

One Family Medicine resident was chosen to be part of the 2014 Family Medicine Cares International Delegation to Haiti on scholarship.  Congratulations to Dr. Zita Magloire! Dr. Magloire will present on her experience at the 2014 National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students.
