Clackamas Volunteers In Medicine - The Founder's Clinic

Family Medicine Cares Grant Recipient

The AAFP Foundation was proud to provide Clackamas Volunteers in Medicine - The Founders Clinic with a Family Medicine Cares USA grant. The clinic officially opened its doors on April 26, 2012.
The Founders Clinic occupies 2,400 square feet of renovated space with six exam rooms, a nurse's station, a lab, and offices for staff. Currently the plan is for the clinic to see approximately 1,865 patient visits per year, along with dental and mental health services if resources allow. As prospective patients enter the doors of the clinic they are screened and must meet some basic requirements, including living in Clackamas County for at least the last three months, having income of no more than twice the federal poverty guidelines for the last three months, and having no access to health care.

Clinic Update

The Founders Clinic was initially providing services every Thursday night, the Clinic expanded in July 2012, to offer appointments every Wednesday afternoon and Thursday evening. As of December 31, 2012 the Clinic has seen over 350 patients since opening. The patients have come from 21 different communities throughout Clackamas County, and have traveled from as far away as 40 miles to obtain Clinic services. One of these patients, Andria, was seen by Dr. Norris, AAFP member, and is now awaiting a kidney transplant.

The Clinic has 150 volunteers, 70 of whom are providing medical services, with 80 providing administrative, fundraising and other services.
