Physicians With Heart (PWH) is a collaboration between the AAFP Foundation and Heart to Heart International. Since its inception, airlift projects have helped people in the former republics of the Soviet Union and in Vietnam.

2010 Physicians With Heart Returns to Tajikistan
The 2010 Physicians With Heart airlift will return to Tajikistan, a former Soviet Republic. The AAFP Foundation will partner with the U.S. State Department and Heart to Heart International to provide humanitarian aid to this Central Asian nation. The mission of the Physicians With Heart project is to procure and distribute medical aid, provide medical education to local physicians and to improve the quality of life for children in the host country. The trip will take place October 23 through November 1, 2010.
About Tajikistan:
Tajikistan is one of the most underserved countries in Central Asia and is bordered by Afghanistan to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north and the People's Republic of China to the east. Tajikistan has a population of approximately 7.3 million people, 20% of which live on less than $1.25 per day. This year marks the third time that the Physicians With Heart delegation has worked in Tajikistan. A Family Medicine Symposium and Family Medicine Training Workshops are planned.
