Leawood, Kan. — The American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation is pleased to announce that Natalie Gaspard has been named manager of the Center for the History of Family Medicine (CHFM).
Gaspard is responsible for providing research assistance to family medicine organizations, academic medical centers, researchers and other authorized users of the Center collections, as well as directing daily operations of the Center and its library, museum programs and collections. She will also serve as staff executive to the Board of Curators.
“Natalie’s archival and digitization knowledge and experience of more than a decade will be incredibly valuable to the Center and its mission,” said David R. Smith, MD, MPH, FAAFP, President, AAFP Foundation Board of Trustees. “I am thrilled to welcome her in this new role and I know her expertise, dedication, and commitment to family medicine will take the Center to new heights.”

Gaspard has acquired skills to utilize current archival and processing standards, such as EAD and DACS, facilitating donated archival materials, developing philanthropic partnerships, and educating and inspiring members through community engagement. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in history from Northwest Missouri State University, a master's degree in library science from Indiana University-Bloomington and is also a licensed respiratory therapist.
Housed at AAFP headquarters and administered by the non-profit AAFP Foundation, the Center for the History of Family Medicine serves as the principal resource center for the collection, conservation, study, exhibition and dissemination of materials relating to the history of family medicine in the United States for the benefit of the specialty and the public.
