“Partnering with organizations who share our core values and focus on science and innovation, especially the AAFP Foundation, is incredibly important to the patients we all serve, to help ensure patients globally have access to the medicines and vaccines they need.” — Pfizer
Pfizer has a long and storied history of scientific breakthroughs and medical innovations that have transformed the lives of patients around the world. For more than 175 years, the company has been at the forefront of discovering, developing and delivering groundbreaking therapies to prevent, treat and even cure some of the most devastating diseases.
One exciting area of focus is cancer research: Pfizer is fighting for eight cancer breakthroughs by 2030. Over the past decade, they’ve taken bold new approaches to translate scientific research into effective medicines for people living with cancer.
Last year, Pfizer and the American Cancer Society came together to launch “Change the Odds: Uniting to Improve Cancer Outcomes,” a three-year initiative to bridge the gap in cancer care disparities. Change the Odds aims to enhance awareness of and access to cancer screening, clinical trial opportunities and support in medically underrepresented communities across the United States for people living with breast and prostate cancer.
Pfizer is grateful to family physicians who share a trust in science and are committed to improving the well-being of their patients through the promise of research-based medicine. Without family physicians, public awareness of and access to potentially life-changing therapies could be compromised.
Collaborating with the AAFP and supporting the AAFP Foundation as a corporate donor allows Pfizer to do this important work today and helps ensure the continuation of research in the future. The AAFP Foundation is equally thankful for the support of corporations like Pfizer, without which our programs would not be possible.
