Family Medicine Discovers
Family Medicine Discovers RapSDI is the development of a Rapid Cycle Scientific Discovery and Innovation practice-based research track, led by the AAFP Foundation and the AAFP National Research Network (NRN) in collaboration with the other key family medicine organizations in the US. The Family Medicine Discovers RapSDI program will advance the vision of building research capacity for family medicine scientific discovery and innovation.
Family Medicine Discovers RapSDI seeks family physicians to conduct short-term innovative and high-impact projects yielding new evidence and knowledge for the advancement of Family Medicine.
Promoting research as an integral element of Family Medicine, the program matches mentor and scholar to address scientific and clinical questions from specialty stakeholders.
In 2019, Family Medicine Discovers RapSDI will enroll two practicing family physician scholars to participate in the following:
- Research scientific and clinical questions that arise from issues faced by practicing family physicians during a 12 to 18-month timeframe
- Build research capacity and skills, as well as professional development opportunities, within Family Medicine
- Partner with a mentor and work without regard to geographical or organizational boundaries
RapSDI will begin accepting applications for scholars and mentors in the fall.
