• AAFP Foundation Names Crystal Bauer Manager of the Center for the History of Family Medicine

    The American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation announced the promotion of Crystal Bauer to Manager of the Center for the History of Family Medicine (CHFM). Bauer holds a master’s degree in library science and is responsible for providing research assistance to family medicine organizations, academic medical centers, researchers and other authorized users of the Center collections, as well as directing daily operations of the Center and its library, museum programs and collections, and serves as staff executive to the Board of Curators.

    “Crystal’s energy and enthusiasm, coupled with her knowledge, experience and fresh ideas, will continue to make the Center a resource for which all of family medicine can be very proud,” said Phyl Naragon, deputy executive director, American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation.

    Housed at the national headquarters of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and administered by the AAFP Foundation, the mission of the CHFM is to serve as the principal resource center for the collection, conservation, study, exhibition, and dissemination of materials relating to the evolving history of the specialty of family medicine in the United States for the benefit of the specialty and the public. The CHFM collection includes decades of documents, photographs, artifacts, and memorabilia that are professionally cataloged and preserved in a climate-controlled environment.
