$100,000 mission to advance family medicine achieved at FMX
Letter from the Board President
As we reflect on the incredible success of the 2024 Family Medicine Experience, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support of the Foundation and its mission to advance family medicine. This year, our goal was to raise $100,000 at FMX, and I am thrilled to share that, thanks to your generosity, we exceeded that target. Your contributions make a tangible difference, and we are deeply appreciative.
At FMX, we had the privilege of recognizing some truly remarkable individuals and initiatives during our Foundation Annual Recognition Ceremony. I want to extend special congratulations to Dennis Gingrich, M.D., FAAFP, who was honored as our Philanthropist of the Year. Gingrich’s unwavering commitment to family medicine exemplifies the spirit of giving that fuels our Foundation.
Additionally, we celebrated the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance. The Alliance's impactful Tar Wars project, which is making a significant difference in promoting tobacco-free lifestyles among young people, made it an easy choice for the Outstanding Program of the Year Award. Both Gingrich and the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance program are featured in this issue, and I encourage you to read their inspiring stories.
As we approach the end of 2024, I want to remind you that there are still many ways to support the Foundation and its important work. This year, when renewing your AAFP membership for 2025, you can make a difference with your donation. Whether you choose to give through your membership renewal or make a donation outside of it, your support is always welcome and deeply valued.
It was wonderful seeing so many of you at FMX, and I am grateful for the passion and dedication you bring to our shared mission. As we look toward the end of the year, I want to thank you for your unwavering commitment to family medicine. Together, we can continue to make a lasting impact on the future of family medicine.
Warm regards,
Tomás Owens, M.D., FAAFP
President, AAFP Foundation
