The AAFP Foundation surpasses fundraising goal at FMX

The AAFP Foundation Surpasses Fundraising Goal at FMX

The AAFP Foundation exceeded its fundraising goal at the 2023 Family Medicine Experience (FMX) in Chicago, raising a record-breaking total of $144,000. The success of this year's fundraising efforts demonstrates the unwavering commitment and generosity of family physicians towards supporting the future of family medicine.

The Foundation set its sights high with a $100,000 fundraising goal for FMX, with multiple avenues for family physicians to contribute. FMX attendees had the option to donate during registration, purchase FMX lapel pins, contribute on-site at the event or participate in the auction, which showcased a diverse array of items ranging from trips and jewelry to artwork and whiskey.

“There was something for everyone – from luxurious trips to exquisite jewelry, captivating artwork to rare whiskey,” added AAFP Foundation President David Smith, MD. “What consistently stands out, though, is the overwhelming generosity of donors who contributed not just money but also valuable items like art, jewelry, and even vacation homes. It's heartening to see the community come together for the future of family medicine."

One notable change in the 2023 fundraising strategy was the extension of the auction period. Unlike previous years when the auction was exclusively available online and to the Congress of Delegates (COD) attendees, this year the auction was open to FMX attendees for an additional two days, allowing a broader audience to engage with the diverse selection of items and interact with Foundation staff to gain deeper insights.
